Aiming at Defining the Digital Utility, Iberdrola Innovation Middle East (ME) works at the intersection of energy and digital technologies, focusing on three key innovation and product development areas: smart grids, renewable energy integration and smart solutions for our customers.

The position

The Company is currently under a strong growth program and looking to enhance and enlarge its team of Power Systems Engineers to undertake advanced network simulation studies, conduct techno-economic assessment of modern power systems, and define control strategies to address the amazing challenges associated to the massive integration of renewable resources and the electrification of demand (e.g., electrical vehicles, heat pumps, green hydrogen, ...). We are on the lookout for highly proficient Power Systems Engineers with strong education credentials, superior innovation skills and proven relevant experience in applied research and/or in the energy industry

Qualifications and experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. MSc would be a plus. PhD would be a stronger plus Advanced level in power systems simulation (static and dynamic) tools (e.g., PSCAD and Simulink) is a must Functional programming skills (e.g., Phyton and MATLAB) for optimization and automation of power simulations Exposure to control and protection of inverter-based systems Previous experience in Power Systems Economics is a very strong plus: provision of ancillary services, capacity markets, energy market design, demand response programs design, ... Experience with techno-economic optimization and modeling tools (e.g., HOMER Energy) is another strong plus Strong critical thinking and analytical skills Impeccable written, verbal and organizational skills Both junior (3-5 years of relevant work experience) and senior (more than 5 years' experience) will be considered in the selection process Preference will be given to local candidates with a valid and transferable residency permit; provisions may be made for others if deemed necessary. This is a permanent full-time role based in the Qatar Science & Technology Park.
