Post Doctoral Researcher Position In The Space And Planetary Science Center

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on a topic of their choice related to planetary science. A wide array of expertise is acceptable including but not limited to 1) planetary atmospheres, 2) geologic and geomorphologic mapping and investigations, 3) remote sensing and remote compositional analysis, 4) Aqueous geochemistry and mineralogy, 5) landscape evolution modeling, and 6) Plasma dynamics. For atmosphere-focused candidates, concentration on molecular physics/spectroscopy for astrophysical applications is highly desirable, but not a requirement. Expertise in numerical modeling is also acceptable. The researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment at the Space and Planetary Science Center ( ) and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.

The duration of this position is 12 months with possibility of extension depending on performance level and availability of funding.

About the center

The selected candidate would be associated with thed Space and Planetary Science Center (SPSC) at Khalifa University ( ). The center was formed in July 2021, and focuses on the analysis of data from current space missions, as well as the development of future ones. The center\'s members have privileged data access to a number of space missions and instruments including HiRISE on board NASA\'s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, and CaSSIS on board the European Space Agency (ESA)\'s ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter, and Emirates Mars "Hope" Mission, as well as involvement in future missions including the UAE\'s upcoming mission to the Asteroid Belt, and ESA\'s Comet Interceptor mission.

General requirements: PhD in planetary science or any related field. Current involvement in space missions is highly desirable but not essential.
