Area: 4th Industrial Revolution Program: Advanced Materials
Description
The DEWA R&D Center is looking to fill the vacancy of a researcher join our innovative Advanced Materials Research Program team and contribute to the design, development, experimental validations of state-of-the-art electrochemical systems. Specifically, the candidate will develop: Execute hands-on research (work packages) for the existing projects in the area of electrochemical energy storage. Perform required experiments (three-electrode configurations, two-electrode configurations, lab prototypes) in laboratory. Develop and integrate new proof-of-concepts (TRL 1-2), and subsequently realize the engineering prototypes (TRL 3-5). Deliver prototype(s) which meet the key requirements. Utilize in-depth knowledge of electrochemistry to contribute to the R&D team. Prepare detailed documentation and deliverables. Communicating work in technical reports/publications/invention disclosures. Collaborate to conduct scientific research in area of electrochemistry and battery development. Other scopes assigned by line manager. The candidate should be proficient in experimentation, testing, and characterization. The candidate is expected to work 80-90% of the time in the laboratory. The candidate to have interpersonal skills/soft skills, critical thinking, meticulous in doing experimental work and analysis, and having research integrity. When needed, the candidate should be comfortable to learn new skills needed for the job within limited time constrains. The candidate should be comfortable working as member of a dynamic, research-oriented group with multiple ongoing concurrent interdisciplinary projects, which also include managing individual tasks independently. Thinking out of the box in bridging cross-disciplinary silos to conduct innovative research are strongly desirable qualities.
Duration: 2 years with potential for extension. This will not be a direct DEWA hire, but through a third party company.

- PhD in a related discipline e.g. Material Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Interdisciplinary Engineering, etc.
- Proven research experience (designation commensurate with relevant years of experience)
- Scopus-indexed publication record
- Hands-on (experimental) research exposure in electrochemistry (cell setup and electrochemical characterization techniques)
- Basic knowledge in materials characterizations (imaging, spectroscopy, physical characterization, thermal characterization, mechanical characterization, electrical & optical characterization, and electrochemical characterizations).
- Knowledge in the battery fabrication, assembly, and testing (li-ion, supercapacitor, redox flow battery) is a plus.
- Knowledge of computer aided design and multi-physics simulation are plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in a related discipline e.g. Material Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Interdisciplinary Engineering, etc.
- Advanced proficiency, knowledge, and hands-on (experimental) research exposure in electrochemistry (e.g. cell setups, electrochemical laboratory techniques, electrochemical characterization analysis, applications of electrochemistry)
- Proven research and work experience (designation commensurate with relevant years of experience) Scopus-indexed publication records.
- Strong research experience and ability in research (e.g. as evidenced from published paper publications) Intellectual property (patent) records
- Good experience with materials characterizations (imaging, spectroscopy, physical characterization, thermal characterization, mechanical characterization, electrical & optical characterization, and electrochemical characterizations).
- Good knowledge and experience in computer aided design and multi-physics simulation (e.g. COMSOL)
