The Department of Biology at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will be offered a one year position. The candidate will be involved in the project investigating Soil-Plant-Microbial interactions in desert ecosystem using metabarcoding/metagenomics approaches. Goal of the project is to investigate the key microbes within the desert plant hyphosphere, particularly under drought conditions, and their involvement in N2O consumption and carbon sequestration using amplicon and shotgun metagenomic sequencing techniques. Evaluation for the position be based on education, experience as well as motivation in terms of the qualification requirements mentioned in the advertisement. Minimum Qualification
PhD in biological science, microbiology, bioinformatics with relevant background
Preferred Qualification
Candidate with experience in eDNA analyses, NGS library preparation and bioinformatic as well as statistical analyses (using R) of big genomic dataset (metabarcoding/metagenomics) is highly preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and ability to work well in collaborative environment with skills in networking are highly advantageous.
