The Department of Biology at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Associate position in Comparative Mammalian Evolutionary and Population Genomics/Transcriptomics. The successful candidate will lead and conduct bioinformatic analyses on mammalian genomic and transcriptomic datasets, focusing on comparative and population-level evolution. The role involves DNA/RNA extraction and related wet-lab work, as well as large-scale bioinformatics, genomic, and transcriptomic analyses on HPC infrastructure, and the integration of data from major genomic databases (e.g., Ensembl, NCBI, UCSC). The candidate will also contribute to publications, mentor students, and collaborate with international partners. The appointment is for an initial period of two years, with possible extension depending on performance and funding availability.
Minimum Qualification
PhD in Evolutionary Biology, Population Genomics, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology
Preferred Qualification
Strong Linux/HPC and scripting experience (R or Python).Experience in evolutionary or population-genomic analyses using next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.Familiarity with bioinformatic workflow tools (Snakemake, Nextflow) and version control systems Git/GitHub). Basic molecular biology skills (DNA/RNA isolation, PCR).
