Job Description

The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct advanced research in date palm biotechnology and genetics, with a strong focus on developing innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture in desert environments and arid regions. The research will emphasize molecular breeding, genomics, and genetic improvement strategies to enhance yield, stress tolerance, and quality traits in date palms -- a crop of strategic importance for food security in the region. The fellow will work closely with senior faculty, research centers, and international collaborators to produce high-impact publications, patents, and translational outcomes. Key Responsibilities o Design and execute research on genetic improvement of date palms adapted to desert and arid climates. o Develop and optimize molecular and biotechnological tools (e.g., genome editing, marker-assisted selection, tissue culture, and stress physiology studies). o Investigate genetic responses of date palms to heat, salinity, and drought stress relevant to desert agriculture. o Apply bioinformatics and statistical approaches for analyzing genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data. o Publish findings in high-impact journals and contribute to patent applications. o Develop knowledge products that support sustainable crop production in arid regions. o Collaborate with UAEU research centers and international partners working on desert and dryland agriculture. o Mentor graduate students and research assistants in advanced lab and data analysis techniques. o Support proposal development targeting national food security and desert sustainability priorities. o Ensure project milestones are achieved within allocated timelines and budgets. o Present research outcomes at global forums focusing on desert agriculture and climate-resilient crops.
