The Department of Chemistry, in collaboration with the National Water & Energy Center and the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University, is currently in search of a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in materials synthesis and characterization for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Photoelectrochemical water splitting and green hydrogen production. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a notable publication record in energy materials research. This position presents an exciting opportunity to lead forefront research initiatives and contribute to the advancement of next-generation energy storage technologies. Responsibilities: Spearhead research projects focusing on materials synthesis and characterization for electrochemical energy storage and conversion, particularly in the realms of supercapacitors, batteries, and green hydrogen evolution. Design and conduct experiments to fabricate innovative materials using various techniques such as sol-gel, hydrothermal, electrodeposition, and chemical vapor deposition. Employ advanced characterization methods including SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, and electrochemical testing to assess the properties and performance of synthesized materials. Collaborate closely with fellow researchers to devise novel strategies for overcoming key obstacles in energy storage and conversion. Provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students, offering guidance on experimental methodologies and data interpretation. Draft research manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and deliver presentations on research findings at conferences and symposiums.

Minimum Qualification

Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong background in materials synthesis and characterization techniques for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. \xe2\x80\xa2 Track record of research excellence demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals. \xe2\x80\xa2 Expertise in electrochemical testing and analysis, with a solid understanding of electrochemical principles and mechanisms. \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent English language and writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively in written and oral formats. \xe2\x80\xa2 Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. \xe2\x80\xa2 Prior experience mentoring students and supervising research projects is preferred.
