Environmental Remote Sensing (ERS) Lab in the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher to retrieve eco-hydrological and climate parameters from remote sensing, and to develop species distribution modeling in various desert environments.
The candidate will be expected to use in-situ, remote sensing data records, and bio-climate datasets, and develop their own research within the overall project framework.
The duties for the position will include integration of multi-sensor and multi-scale satellite remote sensing (e.g., MODIS, SMAP, and Landsat) and other geospatial data for extracting vegetation index, land surface temperature, gross primary productivity, evapotranspiration, solar induced fluorescence (SIF), soil moisture, surface temperature, and freeze/thaw metrics; species distribution modeling; writing scientific papers and publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals; giving presentations on research findings.

Minimum Qualification
A PhD in environmental science, remote sensing or a related discipline.
Demonstrated knowledge of remote sensing fundamentals, including satellite optical-infrared, thermal, microwave remote sensing, and SIF.
Programming ability in IDL, R, Google Earth Engine or, Python.
Digital image processing and analysis using RS software environments (ENVI, QGIS).
Experience in both Linux and Windows environments.

Preferred Qualification
Understanding of numerical methods for data integration and statistical analysis, including machine learning.
Species distribution modeling experience (e.g., MaxENT)
Interest in research on climate and environmental change impacts on the desert ecosystems.
