Applicants are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the field of experimental and/or simulation of 2D-materials synthesis and characterization at the Physics Department in UAE University. The ideal candidate should have both materials physics experimental and simulation skills and expertise. However, strong candidates in either experimental or simulation are also considered. The primary responsibilities of this position are: 1) The synthesis of 2D-materials by various techniques, including mechanical and liquid phase exfoliations, and chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and the characterization of these materials by Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). 2) The theoretical analysis and computational simulation of 2D-materials\xe2\x80\x99 properties and characterization, using VASP or WIEN2k. 3) The employed postdoctoral researcher will also be strongly encouraged to develop and pursue additional work in this and related areas. Applicants must have a PhD in experimental and/or simulation in materials physics or a related field. Demonstrated experience in the above-mentioned experimental and/or simulation techniques is advantageous. The initial employment is for one year but can be extended for another year depending on satisfactory progress.
