Position Overview
KU is seeking a highly motivated Postdoc Fellow to work on a project related to secure unmanned traffic management system. Unmanned traffic management is an ecosystem that assures efficient, reliable, and safe operations of unmanned aerial vehicles through information exchange between relevant system agents. Core functions of UTM include registration, authorization, and remote identification. These tasks should be performed securely to prevent malicious attacks that threaten airspace and public safety. This project aims to develop, implement, and test a zero trust-based, secure, resilient, and autonomous system for drone-UTM interactions using state-of-the-art information and communication technologies. The candidate should work on developing secure UTM services including registration, authorization, and identification. Necessary protocols should be developed and tested in simulation and lab setups. For example, contingency situations should be clarified by executing protocols between a ground observer, the authority, and the operator. The real-time properties and security of such protocols is of highest priority.

Position Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related programs from a reputable university.
- Adhere to the University\'s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
Candidate Profile
Essential Criteria
- Strong background in service programming, web programming, mobile programming.
- Good background is security protocols and threat analysis.
- Good experience in undertaking research tasks.
- A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- Well-developed reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written).
- Some background in embedded systems and UAVs.
- Abilities to fly or to learn to fly a drone for lab experiments.
- MSc gained from and/or experience working in a top 200 QS or THE ranked University
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a researcher in academia or in industry
- Experience contributing to high impact publications in top 10% journals in the relevant field
