The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, repairing, and maintaining fire alarm systems and related safety equipment. The role ensures compliance with local fire safety regulations and guarantees that all fire detection systems are functioning effectively to protect people and property.
Key Responsibilities:Installation & Maintenance
Install new fire alarm systems, panels, detectors, sirens, and emergency units.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on fire alarm systems.
Inspect wiring, connections, and system components to ensure reliability.
Program fire alarm panels and integrate devices with existing systems.
Inspection & Testing
Conduct regular inspections and testing of fire alarm systems as per NFPA/local regulations.
Test smoke detectors, heat detectors, control panels, manual call points, and alarms.
Maintain detailed logs and inspection reports.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Identify faults, system failures, and wiring issues.
Repair defective or malfunctioning components promptly.
Respond to emergency breakdown calls and rectify issues on-site.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure systems meet civil defense/fire safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Prepare service reports, maintenance checklists, and corrective action documents.
Coordinate with supervisors and project managers regarding system upgrades or modifications.
Coordination & Communication
Work with contractors, engineers, and other technicians on installations or upgrades.
Update clients and management on job progress and system status.
Assist in training staff regarding fire alarm system operation (if required).
Skills & Requirements:
Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Technician (2-5 years preferred).
Strong knowledge of fire alarm panels (e.g., Honeywell, Notifier, Siemens, Morley, Edwards, etc.).
Understanding of NFPA codes, UAE Civil Defense requirements, and fire safety standards.
Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Physical ability to work at heights, handle tools, and perform manual tasks.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or equivalent technical field.
Fire alarm system certification (Civil Defense-approved) preferred.
Valid UAE driving license (optional based on company requirements).
