Job Profile:
The OT Patient Assistant works with the Nursing staff to assist with the smooth daily running within the FUH of Nursing.
The OT Patient Assistant is responsible for managing and providing excellent patient assistance during consultations and procedures within the FUH.
Key Responsibilites:
Makes sure the clinical areas are tidy and supplies and equipment are in place.
Escorts patients between departments and or rooms.
Helps patients with daily living if needed.
Is adept and knowledgeable with the use of specific equipment used in the specific department specialty.
Anticipates, recognizes, and manages emergencies, and unsafe situations/practice, and reports to the RN.
If educated and deemed competent, takes vital signs, O2 saturation and blood sugar, and reports the same to the RN.
Influences and facilitates change within the department to improve standards of care.
Promotes an environment that enables patient safety, independence, quality of life and health.
Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner.
Experience
Basic Education
At least 2 years of general hospital experience required.
Previous overseas experience required but not essential.
Familiar with quality improvement, nursing standards, infection control and healthcare delivery systems.
Familiar with all policies related to department and work environment.
Able to locate all policies and other relevant documents from the Intranet portal.
