The Role

The Senior Contract Engineer (PMC) is responsible for managing, administering, and overseeing all contractual aspects of assigned projects on behalf of the Client. The role ensures that contracts are executed in accordance with agreed terms, project requirements, and applicable laws, while minimizing commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Contract Administration

Manage and administer construction and consultancy contracts (e.g., EPC, EPCM, Design & Build, FIDIC-based contracts). Ensure compliance with contract terms, conditions, and project specifications. Interpret contract clauses and provide guidance to the project team and client.

Commercial & Claims Management

Review, evaluate, and recommend approval/rejection of contractor claims, variations, and change orders. Prepare and assess Extension of Time (EOT) claims and associated cost impacts. Identify potential contractual risks and advise mitigation strategies. Support dispute resolution, negotiations, and settlement of claims.

Cost & Payment Management

Review interim payment applications and final accounts submitted by contractors. Ensure accurate measurement, valuation, and certification of works. Monitor cost performance against contract budgets and approved variations.

Tendering & Procurement Support

Assist in preparation and review of tender documents, contract conditions, and commercial schedules. Participate in bid evaluation, commercial clarifications, and contract award recommendations. Support contract negotiations prior to award.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare regular contractual and commercial reports for the Client. Maintain proper records of correspondence, variations, claims, and approvals. Ensure contract documentation is complete, accurate, and auditable.

Coordination & Advisory Role

Work closely with project managers, planners, engineers, and legal teams. Provide contractual advice during project meetings and progress reviews. Act as a key contractual interface between Client, PMC, contractors, and consultants.

Expected

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum 15 years of experience in contract administration and commercial management on large infrastructure, building, or industrial projects. Strong experience working with PMC or Client-side organizations. In-depth knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract. Professional certifications (e.g., MRICS, PMP, CCM) are an advantage.
