Platform and Infrastructure Specialist Role Department - Cloud Computing Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne Duration: Permanent
The primary purpose of this role is to enable our delivery of cloud solutions to both existing and new customers. This is a varied and highly technical role, the individual will work closely with ‘Platform and Infrastructure Manager’, to plan and execute major infrastructure projects (cloud and on-premise) as well as maintenance tasks such as upgrades and patching. Building a strong relationship with our ‘Problem Manger’ and ‘Technical Team Leader’ will be vital for the role, assisting with troubleshooting infrastructure wide problems affecting live services and ultimately ensuring the smooth running and security of our systems. The successful individual will possess a broad range of technical skills spanning both on-premise and cloud technologies, alongside possessing excellent organisational and communication skills. This is a home-based, high-level technical role with some requirements to attend the office for workshops and planning sessions. RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day availability, performance, maintenance, upgrades and overall smooth operation of the following infrastructure technologies/services:
VMWare Cluster inc. vCenter and ESX hosts.
Enterprise SAN IBM v7000 through iSCSI connectivity.
Microsoft Windows Server Domain Services
Hybrid Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure inc. Citrix Cloud and Citrix Managed Desktops
Hybrid Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) infrastructure.
Microsoft SQL Servers
Microsoft Windows File Servers
Escalation point for ‘Technical Team Leader’ and ‘Problem Manager’.
Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) reporting, maintenance and compliance.
Internal infrastructure project management and technical lead (all three phases ‘Planning’, ‘Testing’ & ‘Implementation’.
Responsible for keeping own projects running to schedule and budget, escalating any risks to the ‘Platform and Infrastructure Manager’.
Make recommendations of improvements to existing processes and products.
Ensuring security best practices are followed for all our systems and risks are remediated or escalated to the ‘Network and Security Manager’.

REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Significant high level technical expertise working within an IT environment.
A track record of successful project delivery as technical lead.
A minimum of three technical certifications relevant to the technologies used
Planning skills.
Strong communication skills.
Self motivation and organization skills.
A desire to expand current knowledge set.
Technology Familiarity
MS Windows Server: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy & Certificate Services.
Microsoft 365 Admin: AAD, Exchange, SharePoint & Endpoint Manager Admin
Infrastructure Patching and Updates: MECM and WSUS
Desired Skills
Azure: IaaS. AADDS, AVD
Backup and Restore: Veeam, Zerto, Volume Shadow Copies
Monitoring: PRTG, Sentinel, vRealize.
