Job Description

Job Summary:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely and efficient project execution. They analyze project requirements, allocate resources, and coordinate with different teams to track progress and mitigate delays. The role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in project management software, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Scheduling & Planning:

  • Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Excel.
  • Define project milestones, critical paths, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to establish timelines.
2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Track project progress against baseline schedules and identify deviations.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for management.
  • Conduct delay analysis and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on track.
3. Resource & Cost Management:
  • Estimate resource requirements (manpower, materials, equipment) and optimize allocation.
  • Assist in budget planning and cost control by aligning schedules with financial forecasts.
4. Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks and delays in project execution.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate schedule disruptions.
5. Coordination & Communication:
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project timelines.
  • Attend project meetings and provide schedule updates to stakeholders.
6. Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., PMI, ISO, AACE) and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of schedules, change orders, and project documentation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in project planning/scheduling (construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, or infrastructure preferred).
  • Certification in Primavera P6, PMP, or PMI-SP is a plus.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM), Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies, procurement processes, and contract management.
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Work Environment:
  • Office-based with occasional site visits.
  • May require travel depending on project locations.
