Planning Engineer

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely and efficient project execution. They collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to analyze project requirements, allocate resources, and identify potential risks. The Planning Engineer ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Scheduling & Planning:

  • Develop detailed project schedules using tools like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other planning software.
  • Define project milestones, critical paths, and work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Prepare baseline schedules and update them regularly based on progress reports.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to align project timelines with contractual obligations.
2. Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Track project progress against the baseline schedule and identify delays or deviations.
  • Generate periodic reports (weekly/monthly) on project status, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis to assess cost and schedule performance.
  • Recommend corrective actions to mitigate delays and optimize resource allocation.
3. Risk Management & Mitigation:
  • Identify potential risks and bottlenecks in project execution.
  • Develop contingency plans to minimize schedule disruptions.
  • Conduct what-if scenarios and delay analysis to assess impact.
4. Coordination & Communication:
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure alignment on schedules.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide schedule-related insights.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual timelines and deliverables.
5. Resource & Cost Planning:
  • Assist in resource allocation (manpower, equipment, materials) to meet project deadlines.
  • Support cost estimation and budgeting related to project timelines.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in PMP, PMI-SP, or Primavera P6 is a plus.
