Job Description

Planning Engineer is to mainly support the Project Manager and Project team with information to execute the project in time and within the budget allocated. This information is used by Project Managers in taking decisions for a smooth execution of the project. Planning Engineer creates the information required by first detailing the activities involved in the project, fitting those in the timeline, calculating the materials, manpower and machinery required to execute these activities in the time frame decided.

Responsibilities & Duties

Prepare Project Schedule (Tools: Primavera, MS Project) covering entire scope and within defined timeline Calculate optimal material requirement, manpower requirement (of various trades) & machinery requirement Determine labour productivity for each activity and generate labour histogram Plan for budget required for the project and create various budget heads to document and monitor the expenses Create cashflow analysis for project- time bound cost Verifies critical path and interfaces between design/ engineering/ procurement/ execution Determine appropriate logistic solution in managing resources Update project progress periodically and compares with approved baseline Sets up alerts for all important contractual and milestone dates Prepare look-ahead plan, weekly & monthly progress reports and dashboard report Review and approve subcontractor schedule and align with Master programme Administer schedule and baseline changes through logs and registers Create variance reports (Schedule Variance and Cost Variance-EVM) at various stages of the project to analyze deviations

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline

Working Experience & Skills

5 years and above experience in project planning Project time and cost tracking and analysis Ability to understand and assist in the planning of tasks for new projects Effective communication skills Data collection and analysis Ability to read and assess drawings, BOQ and specs.
