Job Description

A Pipe Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems that carry water, steam, chemicals, and other fluids in industrial, commercial, and residential environments. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of various piping systems and materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
Cut, thread, bend, and weld pipes using appropriate tools and equipment.
Install and assemble piping systems and support structures, including valves, fittings, and controls.
Inspect and test piping systems for leaks using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, or other methods.
Maintain and repair existing piping systems, replacing defective parts and ensuring functionality.
Work with materials such as steel, copper, plastic, and stainless steel.
Collaborate with other trades (e.g., welders, plumbers, electricians) on large construction or maintenance projects.
Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents or injuries on job sites.
Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED (technical or trade school training preferred).
Proven experience as a pipe fitter or in a similar role.
Knowledge of piping systems, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA).
Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools accurately.
Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces.
Certification in pipe fitting or welding (preferred, not always required).
