Job Description

Inspecting the workplace, clearing obstructions and preparing materials and equipment. Assembling and welding pipe components and systems. Securing pipes to walls and fixtures with brackets, clamps, and welding equipment. Repairing and maintaining pipe systems, supports, and related equipment Clearing pipe systems of obstructions and testing their functionality. Complying with relevant codes and regulatory standards. Repair malfunctions, breakages, or leaks Test functionality of hydraulic and other systems Weld, assemble, and lubricate pipes Measure and cut pipes according to requirements Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to job specifications. Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers Cuts pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch and pipe cutting machine. Threads pipe using threading machine Bends pipe by hand or with pipe-bending tools and machine. Assembles and installs a variety of metal or non-metal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded caulked, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools. Tests piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. Welds pipe supports to structural steel members. Loads, transports, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies. Cut and bore holes in structures, such as bulkheads, decks, walls, and mains, prior to pipe installation, using hand and power tools Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, and related machines and equipment, following specifications and using hand and power tools. Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems. Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids from pipe sections, using valve keys or wrenches. Remove and replace worn components. Prepare cost estimation for the proposed work Install, operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded manholes, basements, or facility floors. Qualifications

• 2-year technical or related degree.
• At least 2 years' experience as an MEP technician.
• Professional problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Experience operating hand and power tools, threading and fault-testing equipment.
