We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Procurement Officer to join us at our new office headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Pharmacy Procurement Officer is responsible for negotiating and administering purchase orders for all assigned items. Other functions include preparing procurement documents, evaluation and analysis activities, and applying the ladder system in recognizing the abilities, efforts, working capacity of a buyer and degree of complexity of package processed is higher.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs duties as directed in accordance with facility policy and procedures.
  • Prepares procurement plans which reflects the milestone and time frames for major requisitions.
  • Process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and / or Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Ensures that a clear and documented audit trail is maintained for each purchase action.
  • Maintains an accurate record of all PRs and their stage of process.
  • Survey sources of supply to optimize and consolidate supply arrangements and nominates the source of supply based upon accepted procurement criteria.
  • Attempts in each procurement action to maintain standards and cost and where possible to reduce material costs.
  • Ensures that all sourcing actions are carried out in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Liaises with Heads of requisitioning Departments, Materials Planning and Stock Control, with regards to the selection of appropriate materials.
  • Maintains contact with suppliers to keep abreast of price trends, availability of supplies and new products.
  • Enhance professional growth and development, participating in performance improvements and office automation.
  • Performs all other duties / tasks within the realm of his/her knowledge and ability as required.
  • Verbalizes knowledge of the location of all manuals. i.e. safety, infection control, MSDS etc.
  • Participate in the cost containment of the supplies and equipment purchased by finding new sources and introducing new alternatives.
  • Accepts and completes other assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Answers the telephone professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Relays all messages promptly and appropriately.
  • Sets and revises priorities in response to situations and ongoing change/evaluation.
  • Participates in activities which contribute toward professional growth.
  • Participates in informal self-evaluation by identifying areas of strengths and weaknesses.
  • Reads and follows new procedures, policies and department changes.
  • Attends mandatory facility sponsored in-services.
  • Attends continuing education programs designed to improve competency.
  • Demonstrates effective management of time to complete assignments and facilitate overall department function.
  • Helps without being asked.
  • Attends and participates in department meetings.
  • Supports department budget efforts.
  • Supports staffing guidelines.
  • Assists in orientation of new employees.
  • Utilizes downtime effectively.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree of Pharmaceutical Science (B.Sc.Phar).
  • At least three (3) years’ experience as a Pharmacist buyer / planner.
  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with all aspects of essential documentation and procedural requirements associated with the buying of Pharmaceutical and other supplies.
  • Knowledge of any relevant government regulations pertaining to the purchase of Pharmaceutical and other supplies.
