* Reviews, compounds, prepares and/or oversees the compounding, preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to patients or medical practitioners; makes decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals. * Consults with patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate. * Oversees the acquisition and disbursement of drugs and medications to various offices, clinics, and other sites. * Provides education, guidance and training to students, pharmacy interns, and or trainees during course of work and monitors performance. * Establishes and maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping of pharmaceuticals. * May take patient\'s histories as required; makes initial clinical assessments and refers patients to appropriate clinicians. * Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment and record keeping as required by federal, state and local regulations. * Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. * Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
  • Ability to perform basic patient assessments and referrals.
  • Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
