Job Description

Animal Care:

Pet handlers are responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of the animals under their care. This includes feeding, grooming, bathing, and providing medical attention when necessary. They may also be responsible for cleaning cages or enclosures and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the animals.

Training and Enrichment:

Pet handlers may be involved in training animals for specific tasks or behaviors, such as obedience training for dogs or teaching tricks for entertainment purposes. They may also provide enrichment activities to stimulate the animals mentally and physically, such as providing toys or engaging in play sessions.

Behavior Assessment:

Pet handlers often need to assess the behavior and temperament of animals to determine their suitability for adoption, training, or other purposes. This may involve observing interactions with humans and other animals, conducting temperament tests, and identifying any behavioral issues that need to be addressed.

Client Interaction:

Depending on the setting, pet handlers may interact with clients or pet owners to provide information about animal care, training techniques, and behavior management. They may also offer advice on selecting the right pet for a client's lifestyle and preferences.

Health Monitoring:

Pet handlers monitor the health of the animals under their care and report any signs of illness or injury to veterinary staff or supervisors. They may also administer medications or treatments as directed by a veterinarian.

Record Keeping:

Pet handlers maintain detailed records of each animal's care, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, behavioral observations, and any other relevant information. Accurate record-keeping is essential for tracking the progress of individual animals and ensuring that they receive appropriate care.

Emergency Response:

In the event of emergencies such as accidents, natural disasters, or medical crises, pet handlers may be responsible for evacuating animals to safety, providing first aid, or coordinating with emergency responders.

Continuing Education:

Pet handlers stay informed about best practices in animal care, training, and behavior management through continuing education, workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities.

Pay: AED1,500.00 - AED3,000.00 per month

Education:

High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:

veterinary: 1 year (Preferred)
Language:

English (Preferred)
