Pediatric Surgeon Duties:

• Performs general surgical procedures on the pediatric population, specializing in replantation and salvage
• Provide medical and surgical care and guidance for children, teenagers, and adults
• Conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and prescribes medications
• Manages and directs physicians, nurses, and support staff
• Improves patient satisfaction and recovery rates

Pediatric Surgeon Responsibilities:

• Minimum of 4-5 years of medical school
• Board certified in pediatric surgery
• Knowledge of pediatric surgical subspecialties
• Personal and professional integrity and capability to function in a professional and ethical manner
• Excellent communication skills

Requirements And Skills:

• Perform a full scope of pediatric surgical services, including operations of the abdomen, pelvis, chest, and extremities
• Operate on children, adolescents, and young adults, including neonates, infants, and toddlers
• Perform scheduled/elective procedures, including general surgery, trauma and critical care, urological, oncologic, and colorectal
• Perform procedures in ambulatory surgery centers, hospitals, and other health care facilities
• Perform routine and preventive pediatric surgery
• Apply principles of surgery such as physiology, anatomy, and surgery to patients\xe2\x80\x99 conditions
• Provide patient and family education
• Educate medical students, residents, and fellows
• Conduct clinical research
• Perform other related duties as assigned
