Overview:
The Aesthetic Performance is responsible for the design, delivery, and coordination of aesthetic-based disciplines within the Mustang High Performance framework, including dance, cheer, and gymnastics-style activities. The role also plays a leading part in major school productions and events, ensuring excellence in performance, presentation, and participation. It combines performance development with technical skill acquisition, creativity, and whole-school cultural engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver a structured aesthetic programme covering dance, cheer, and gymnastics-inspired training for students aged 7-18.
Choreograph and manage aesthetic performance teams for internal showcases and external competitions.
Ensure the Mustang brand is present at high profile national and regional events.
Provide technical training in movement, flexibility, coordination, and strength tailored to each aesthetic discipline.
Collaborate with staff involved in Performing Arts, Drama, and Music to support school productions and cross-departmental events.
Take the lead in planning and delivering high-profile school events where performance is a central component.
Maintain, inventory, and oversee safe usage of aesthetic performance equipment (mats, costumes, props, small scale music systems).
Integrate creative movement into Active School curriculum to ensure inclusive and engaging provision for all students.
Assist in the identification and development of students with aesthetic performance potential and support their pathway into IAP where appropriate.
Support the Director of Sport & High Performance Coordinator with recruitment of targeted aesthetic performance students.
Develop relationships with key high performance partners to ensure students have exposure to industry standard professionals and environments.
Collaborate with the Strength & Conditioning and Nutrition leads to support physical preparedness and recovery for aesthetic performers.
Drive uptake and delivery of aesthetic performance examination subjects and ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest standard.
Develop specific professional development across the GEMS Network as part of the Centre of Excellence for Sport.
Any other responsibilities above and beyond the role that the Director of Sport or High Performance Coordinator deems necessary to support whole school objectives and outcomes.
Skills
Degree or professional qualification in Dance, Performing Arts or a related field.
Recognised coaching/teaching certifications in dance, cheerleading, or gymnastics.
Experience choreographing, leading, and producing performances at school or competition level.
Ability to manage students across a range of age groups and ability levels, from recreational to high performance.
Excellent organisational skills and event management experience within a school or youth performance setting.
