The Credit Initiation Sr Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to assess the ability of individuals, companies and institutions to meet the demands of loans, agreements and extended obligations in coordination with the Operations - Services team.The overall objective of this role is to ensure financial threats to the company are minimized by determining the terms or level of credit that can be granted without undue risk.
Responsibilities:
Manage one or more large credit initiation units supporting multiple products
Assist in developing credit initiation strategies to increase client response efficiency
Evaluate approval strategies in coordination with Credit Risk Managers
Evaluate subordinates' performance and make recommendations for pay increases, hiring, terminations and other personnel actions
Provide evaluative judgment based on information analysis in complicated and unique situations
Oversee area end results, budget management and resource planning
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
6-10 years of experience in a related role
Senior level experience in a related role and commensurate people management experience preferred
Apply in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub function
Basic commercial awareness and industry knowledge required
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
Education:
Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
Master’s degree preferred
Citi has a valuable Personal Banking and Wealth Management (PBWM) franchise in the UAE, and the Asset products offered are Cards, Personal Loans and Margin Lending (MSBF). The Credit Initiation unit head will report to the Head of PBWM Operations and work towards improving process efficiency and maintain consistency in key metrics performance of the department. Key Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise a team of credit initiation officers and adhere to key unit metrics like TAT, Approval Rate, Expenses etc. and identify further opportunities for improvement.
Manage outsourced processes carried out in CSIPL as well as by Vendors and ensure adherence to related SLA. Help in ensuring that capacity is in place to perform underwriting within the agreed turnaround time.
Use influential communication skills, to convince partner teams like Credit policy, Sales etc. to implement changes beneficial to the franchise.
Manage the process changes related to liquidation of UAE Personal Loan product, and an alternate product launch-related deliverables in due course.
Manage the transition of underwriting for Bahrain asset products (Cards and Personal Loans) till portfolio divestiture.
Understand policy changes and its impact on the process. Conduct necessary analysis on the process and take necessary action to implement the change without any impact on the business.
Develop proper tracking mechanism and score cards for underwriters and verification officers.
To drive critical migration and system interface to equip a high efficiency process.
Prioritize and provide a clear line of sight to critical works; ensure team understands as to how initiatives support organizational success.
Liaise with partner units to develop and consciously enhance policies and procedures for underwriting.
To collate, analyse, infer data around process workflow to identify and remove process bottlenecks. Wherever required, present relevant MIS to management team.
Review and submit monthly reports to in-country management committee and regional oversight offices.
Monitor unit's control framework to ensure no lapses in the process.
Lead the reengineering efforts for Credit Initiation in UAE
Ensure error free processing and clean QA / Audit.
Help in eliminating errors through process improvement.
Actively participate in the training process and the analyst certification process.
Monitor and report any trends impacting business volume (cancelation & rejection analysis).
Ensure proper documentation for all CIU related activities.
Maintaining knowledge of country specific laws/regulations and ensuring staff adherence.
Continuity of business - maintain and test plans on a regular basis.
Ensure correct compliance controls are in place and fully utilized.
