Job Summary

The Pathologist & Histopathologist will lead and manage the diagnostic and research activities within the Pathology Department at CVRL. This position focuses on histopathology, cytology, and biopsy interpretation for a range of species, with an emphasis on tumor identification in companion animals. The role involves laboratory supervision, quality assurance, and the maintenance of high diagnostic and safety standards in accordance with international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Perform

histopathological examinations

on tissue samples, including

biopsies for tumor identification

. Conduct

cytological analyses

and provide accurate and timely diagnostic reports. Serve as

Head of the Pathology Department

, overseeing day-to-day operations, laboratory personnel, and workload management. Supervise

L3 laboratory activities

to ensure compliance with biosafety, quality assurance, and accreditation standards. Oversee

incineration processes

and ensure adherence to environmental and institutional safety regulations. Maintain accurate diagnostic records and contribute to internal and external reporting as required. Collaborate with veterinarians, clinicians, and researchers to support case management and diagnostic development. Participate in

training, continuing education, and research initiatives

related to pathology and histopathology. Develop, implement, and review

standard operating procedures (SOPs)

, quality control programs, and laboratory protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements

Board-Certified Pathologist

(European College of Veterinary Pathologists or American College of Veterinary Pathologists preferred).

Minimum 10 years of professional experience

in veterinary pathology, including

at least 5 years specializing in histopathology

. Demonstrated expertise in

biopsy evaluation

,

tumor diagnosis

, and

cytology

. Proven

leadership and management experience

in a pathology or diagnostic laboratory setting. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Commitment to maintaining the highest diagnostic accuracy and laboratory safety standards.
