The role demands creativity, precision, and consistency in developing innovative menus, seasonal specialties, and signature desserts that enhance the cafe's image and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and produce a variety of pastries, cakes, desserts, cookies, and other baked goods according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Develop new dessert ideas, recipes, and menu concepts aligned with current market and cafe trends.
Ensure taste, quality, and freshness standards are met at all times.
Oversee daily production, portion control, and presentation to maintain consistency.
Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients and products to minimize waste.
Supervise and train junior staff and kitchen helpers in pastry techniques and production standards.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene in the pastry?section as per
UAE?municipality and HACCP?guidelines
.
Monitor and replenish stock levels; coordinate with the purchasing department for ingredient orders.
Collaborate with management and barista teams to pair desserts with beverages and develop seasonal cafe specials.
Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils in the pastry section are handled and maintained properly.
Adhere to cost control and portion management to achieve the cafe's profitability targets.
Assist in catering orders, special events, and promotional dessert displays.
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma or Certification in Culinary Arts / Pastry & Bakery.
5?-?8?years of experience
as a Pastry Chef, ideally within cafes, boutique dessert shops, or hotels in the UAE or GCC.
Strong artistic and creative skills with a keen eye for modern pastry presentation.
In?depth knowledge of dessert techniques, baking methods, and temperature control.
Good understanding of
food safety, storage, and hygiene practices
.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to supervise bakery team members.
Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and shift schedules.
Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is an advantage.
