Job Description

The Pastry Cook prepares baked goods and dessert items for the cafe, focusing on breakfast pastries, cakes, cookies, viennoiserie, and other cafe-style items. Ensures consistent quality, proper baking techniques, and creative presentation.

Key Responsibilities



Prepare and bake pastries, muffins, croissants, cookies, cakes, and other cafe dessert items. Assist in developing new pastry items suitable for breakfast and cafe service. Measure, mix, and prepare doughs, batters, creams, and toppings. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and order in the pastry section. Follow standardized recipes and ensure product consistency. Monitor ovens and equipment to avoid over/under-baking. Manage ingredient storage, labeling, FIFO, and inventory reporting. Assist with plating and garnishing dessert items for service. Coordinate with kitchen teams to meet daily production requirements.

Requirements



Experience as Pastry Cook/Baker in a cafe, bakery, or pastry kitchen. Good knowledge of basic pastry methods: doughs, creams, fillings, baking techniques. Creativity and eye for presentation. Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistency. Knowledge of hygiene, food safety, and storage standards. Ability to work early morning shifts and meet production deadlines.
