The Pastry Chef is responsible for overseeing all pastry and dessert production, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and consistency. This role involves designing new products, maintaining recipe accuracy, managing the pastry team, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, bake, and decorate a wide variety of pastries, cakes, tarts, and desserts.
Develop and test new recipes aligned with brand identity and seasonal trends.
Supervise and train junior pastry staff to maintain product consistency.
Monitor and manage inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients (FIFO).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section according to HACCP standards.
Work closely with the purchasing and cost control teams for recipe costing and ingredient planning.
Oversee production schedules to meet daily and special event demands.
Ensure timely completion of orders, including custom and large-scale cake designs.
Collaborate with other kitchen sections for cross-functional support and innovation.
Skills & Requirements:
Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role.
Deep knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques.
Strong eye for detail and artistic presentation.
Understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards (HACCP).
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Creativity, leadership, and team management skills.
