Some common duties and responsibilities of a paralegal: Conducting legal research: Paralegals are often responsible for conducting research on legal issues and precedents to support lawyers in their work. Drafting legal documents: Paralegals may be responsible for drafting legal documents such as pleadings, contracts, and briefs. Managing client files: Paralegals often maintain and organize client files, including correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents. Assisting with trial preparation: Paralegals may assist with trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and drafting trial briefs. Communicating with clients and other parties: Paralegals may communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in a case to gather information and provide updates. Supporting lawyers in meetings and hearings: Paralegals may attend meetings and hearings with lawyers and take notes or provide support as needed. Maintaining knowledge of legal developments: Paralegals must stay up to date on legal developments and changes to laws and regulations.
