The Painting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all painting and finishing activities for joinery, furniture, and fit-out products. The role ensures that finishes meet approved samples, specifications, and quality standards while achieving production targets, safety compliance, and efficient use of materials and manpower.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervision & Planning
Supervise and coordinate painters, polishers, sprayers, and finishing technicians.
Plan daily and weekly finishing activities in line with production schedules and project deadlines.
Allocate manpower, tools, spray booths, and materials efficiently.
Monitor productivity and ensure timely completion of finishing works.
2. Painting & Finishing Operations
Oversee surface preparation including sanding, filling, sealing, priming, and base coating.
Supervise application of finishes such as
PU, polyester, lacquer, melamine, veneer finishes, stains, paints, and special decorative finishes
.
Ensure correct mixing, thinning, and application of paints and coatings as per manufacturer guidelines.
Monitor spray booth operations, drying times, curing processes, and environmental conditions.
3. Quality Control & Standards
Ensure finished products match
approved samples, color codes, gloss levels, and textures
.
Inspect finished items for defects such as runs, sags, pinholes, orange peel, color variation, or scratches.
Coordinate with QAQC team for inspections, approvals, and corrective actions.
Ensure rework and touch-ups are carried out efficiently and correctly.
Maintain consistent finish quality across batches and projects.
4. Materials & Inventory Control
Monitor consumption of paints, thinners, hardeners, stains, and finishing materials.
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of flammable and hazardous materials.
Minimize wastage through correct mixing, application techniques, and planning.
Coordinate with the Production Manager/Factory Manager and stores for timely material availability.
5. Health, Safety & Environment
Enforce
health, safety, and environmental (HSE)
regulations within the painting and finishing areas.
Ensure proper use of PPE such as respirators, gloves, goggles, and protective clothing.
Monitor ventilation, dust extraction, and fire safety systems in spray booths.
Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials.
Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for finishing teams.
6. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with carpentry, CNC, sanding, and assembly teams to ensure smooth workflow.
Liaise with QAQC, project teams, and production management on finishing status and quality issues.
Support client, consultant, and internal inspections as required.
Assist in mock-up preparation and sample approvals.
7. Training & Continuous Improvement
Train painters and finishing staff on application techniques, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Identify skill gaps and recommend training or process improvements.
Implement best practices to improve finish quality, durability, and efficiency.

Certifications in spray painting or industrial coatings are an advantage.
Experience
Minimum
10 years
of experience in painting and finishing within joinery, furniture, or fit-out manufacturing.
At least
5 years
in a supervisory or lead role.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of wood finishing systems and materials.
Ability to match colors, finishes, and samples accurately.
Leadership and team management skills.
Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.
Knowledge of HSE requirements for painting operations.
Good communication and planning skills.
Working Conditions
Factory-based role within spray booths and finishing areas.
Exposure to paints, solvents, fumes, and noise (with appropriate PPE).
Overtime may be required to meet production and project deadlines.

Pay: QAR3,000.00 - QAR3,500.00 per month
