JOB DESCRIPTION Designation: Painter Section/Department: Engineering/ General Maintenance Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor / Head of Maintenance Purpose and Scope of the Job Perform general application of paint, strain and wall covering of fabric and vinyl surfaces, carrying out paint repair as required and instructed for hospital facilities.

Principle Working Relationships and Remarks
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
- Responsible for the application of paint, stain and wall coverings of fabric and vinyl on various surfaces
- Paints surfaces using brushes, spray guns and/or rollers. Selects and prepares paint to match specified colors by blending the required portions of pigment, oil and thinning and drying substances.
- Responsible in application of coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
- Used appropriate smoothest surfaces, using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool, and removes old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Removes fixtures, such as pictures and electric switchovers, from walls prior to painting, using screw driver.
- Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces, such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- Repair and finish drywall for painting. Properly use, care, and maintenance for/or equipment used in painting trade
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
- May be designated according to type of work performed.
- Ensures quality and patient safety practices are followed.
- Provides or promotes people centered care.
- Promotes inclusive health by providing equitable and accessible care to patients and families with special needs.
- Any other duties assigned.

- Knowledge of safety procedures for working on ladders scaffolds and lifts. Correct protect surfaces adjacent to paint spraying areas.
- Knowledge uses tools, materials and other methods for preparing surfaces for paint, and or coating. Identify different types of sealant and filters and apply these to construction substrates
- Knowledge of use sand blasting equipment correctly and safely
