Job Summary
Diagnose, manage, and treat conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system. Examine eyes and visual system, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment

Main Duties and Responsibilities
1
Examine eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness.

Analyze test results and develop a treatment plan.

Check, fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids.
4
Provide patients undergoing eye surgeries, such as cataract and laser vision correction, with pre- and post-operative care
5
Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors
6
Remove foreign bodies from the eye.
7
Provide vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation
Required Qualifications
1
Education Level
Graduate Degree, Diploma/ bachelors in optometry.
2
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, preferably hospital based.

Language / Literacy
English and Arabic Languages

Other
Skills Needed
1
Knowledge and skilled using specialist equipment for diagnosis and testing
2
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
3
Job requires continuous use of reading skills and verbal communication skills and frequent use of written communication skills.

Job requires delegations, conflict resolution, individual and group interactions, time management, critical thinking and stress management
5
Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance

Identifying measures or indicators of performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the department and hospital.

Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of machines used to exact positions '
