Overview
Our client, a leading global Company focused on providing technology and engineering solutions seeks an Optimisation Reservoir Engineer to support a gas study on behalf of a leading Oil and Gas operator. Applicants are invited who have strong experience using the Emerson product \xe2\x80\x9cENABLE\xe2\x80\x9d and a minimum of 10 years in reservoir optimization activities. This Tax Free Contract is for a minimum of 12 months but may be extended. The Company will take care of all aspects of relocation, accommodation etc.

\xe2\x80\x9cENABLE\xe2\x80\x9d provides mathematical support to reservoir engineers in their use of reservoir simulation software. This support allows engineers to complete tasks like history matching much more quickly than using the simulator on its own, and also provides a more rigorous approach to predicting future reservoir performance, or optimising field development. ENABLE works with Tempest MORE, ECLIPSE*100 & 300, Nexus/VIP*, CMG & many proprietary
reservoir simulators. It can also link to Roxar\xe2\x80\x99s RMS and Schlumberger\xe2\x80\x99s Petrel geomodelling software to investigate geological uncertainty.

The study which will cover multiple stages, will be performed on gas reservoirs in a major Gas Field. Main objectives of this study are to:
  • Assess the associated reservoir uncertainties, across all domains, from Seismic to Simulation for reliable production forecast and reserves probabilities
  • Implement a workflow (machine learning technique) to investigate the effects of reservoir uncertainties on future field development planning
  • Generate geologically consistent equiprobable history match models
  • Produce an evergreen workflow which can be updated with newly drilled wells
  • Provide production forecast profile for multiple development scenarios and well locations

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Study Manager, you will be heavily involved in the following phases providing advice and support at each stage of this integrated project. An extensive technical team is engaged in this project which has significant management support.
  • Phase 1 \xe2\x80\x93 Data review and structural modelling
    • Support grid definition and structural complexity description. Engineering aspects of RRT definition and classification. Initiate structural uncertainty parametrisation.
  • Phase 2 \xe2\x80\x93 Facies, rock types and petrophysical modelling
    • Provide support to engineering aspects of RRT, petrophysics, saturation modelling and controls. Initiate uncertainty parameterisation.
  • Phase 2 \xe2\x80\x93 Deliverables include a PowerPoint document summarizing:
    • Support stage report for peer assist/review.
  • Phase 3 \xe2\x80\x93 Discrete fracture network modelling (DFN)
    • Support DFN and eDFN implementation based on prior work. Prepare parameterisation response to principal controls and uncertainties.
    • Review the previous Discrete fracture network modelling study done.
    • Replicate the Discrete fracture network modelling workflow as per previous study results and data provided by the Client using the fracture module in RMS (new fracture interpretation is excluded)
    • Incorporate DFN uncertainties including Fracture Orientations, Fracture apertures, and Fracture Intensities.
  • Phase 3 \xe2\x80\x93 Deliverables include a PowerPoint document summarizing:
    • Evaluate implementation of DFN models on permeability, uncertainty, scale, tie to DDR, well test, core, log and production performance
  • Phase 4 \xe2\x80\x93project set-up and dynamic model initialization
    • Review the existing dynamic model including PVT models, SCAL data, well events and historical production data
    • Project set-up and connection using Tempest-Enable; Grid testing and optimization
    • Dynamic model initialization and stability testing
    • Review RMS workflow and define the ranges and distributions of static and dynamic model uncertainties
    • Perform sensitivity runs and investigate the sensitivity results
  • Phase 4 Deliverables include a PowerPoint document summarizing:
    • Base dynamic model with initialization and stability results
    • Sensitivity results for the defined uncertainties in the project
  • Phase 5 \xe2\x80\x93 Uncertainty scoping and history matching \xe2\x80\x93 Implementation
    • In phase 5, Workflow, previously setup and approved by the Client in phase-4 will be run to achieve the following:
    • Complete history matching process, using available production data
    • Assess the suitability of uncertainty ranges and sensitivity modifiers used in history matching
    • Validate the final ensemble of history matched dynamic models with the Client\xe2\x80\x99s engineers
  • Phase 5 Deliverables for the final phase will include:
    • Multiple equiprobable history match geologically consistent static and dynamic models
    • Tempest Enable project with workflow set up where the various loop components are connected like RMS and simulator to update the model easily with newly drilled wells.
    • Multiple History matched models (these models are equally probable and geologically consistent)
    • Model uncertainty diagnoses (sensitive HM parameters, prediction sensitive parameters, parameters prior and posterior distributions, parameters correlations)
  • Phase 6 \xe2\x80\x93 Prediction scenarios \xe2\x80\x93 Implementation
    • In phase 6, Workflow, the posterior ensemble of history matched models will be used to address prediction probabilities
    • Generate an ensemble of production forecasts for each of planned prediction development scenarios
    • Generate delta ensembles to calculate the incremental hydrocarbon recovery of each development scenario over base scenario
  • Phase 6 \xe2\x80\x93 Deliverables for the final phase will include:
    • Production Forecast profiles generated for multiple development scenarios
    • Ensemble of prediction runs for each prediction scenarios, these runs are matching available observed data, equally probable, geologically consistent (high predictability) and are capturing the remaining model uncertainty after HM exercise (prediction probability)
    • Probability distribution of prediction profiles for each prediction scenario
    • Delta ensembles for each scenario over the base development scenario
  • Phase 7 - Final Reporting and project deliverables
    • This final phase will crucially include the handover of project to the Client\xe2\x80\x99s staff. In addition, the following will be provided.
    • Final project presentation
    • Final project report covering all the project stages and detailed work, analysis and results
    • Handover to Client staff for future updates and use
