Overview:
Senior level operational professional, typically site based. Responsibilities include support of all phases of project activities on medium (USD100MM) projects, including variety of scopes that include engineering, procurement, and construction. This position is a Professional (Degreed) role and may have supervisory responsibility. The role typically reports to Project or Operations Management.
Responsibilities: The Operations Specialist provides technical support to coordinate engineering, procurement and construction deliverables during all project phases to ensure that project designs meet operational requirements and specified engineering standards
Coordination of project plans, contractual arrangements, schedules, activities, and milestones. May be responsible for client or customer reporting requirements and client operational interactions
Manages fabrication at subcontractor's fabrication facilities
Ensures seamless process from design to installation of components
Delivery of the various engineering, construction, purchasing, scheduling, and start-up aspects of a project(s)
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Programs, such as Lessons Learned and other programs which support achievement of quality and project goals
Ensure that items are installed as per latest project specifications and drawings, meeting quality, cost and time constraints
Help with resource allocation
Monitor progress and schedule performance, and identify problems in respect to budget schedules, engineering standards, working directly with Project Controls
Investigate and follow-up on technical queries with the technical services groups
Provide technical and quality assistance to Construction Supervisors and Field crews.
Identify and interpret material specifications and provide technical support to supply chain to support project schedules.
Ensure work undertaken complies with scope and meets operational requirements. Obtain appropriate approvals of and documenting calculations, specifications, variations etc.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering
10+ years of relevant experience in Fabrication and Site assembly
Broad technical knowledge of construction methods and equipment, engineering processes, and fabrication capabilities
Familiarity with estimating, supply chain, project controls, and contract commercial management
Knowledge of Commercial Contracting and Negotiation strategies
Familiarity with the Energy & Construction Industry preferred
Skills and Behaviors: Previous experience in a coordinating role on EPC/Tank projects including product knowledge, understanding of specifications and critical steps in project execution
Commercial and contractual awareness and experience of coordinating handover activities
Be a proven team player able to work in large teams operating globally, demonstrate good communication skills and an understanding of cultural challenges.
Prior ADNOC experience is a plus
Prior Brownfield experience is a plus
Must have managed a crew in field installation of components.
Prior Tank experience is a plus
Must have worked from bid to project completion
Must be willing to stay on project sites for extended period
Good understanding of Oil & Gas, Energy and Construction industry practices and requirements
Experienced in proposals for Fabrication and EPC work
Adaptability and agility to learn and contribute in varying and complex environments
Mentally agile and ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines
* Understand structural and piping drawings and can prepare material take off
