Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced

Operation Engineer (Electrical)

as part of a tender submission for

utility-scale Solar Power Plants

. The successful candidate will be responsible for

HV/MV electrical operations

, including

220 kV and 33 kV switching

, coordination with

Kahramaa

, supervision of site operations, maintenance planning, contract administration, and ensuring full compliance with HSE and asset management requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Operations & Switching

Perform and authorize

high-voltage switching operations

for

220 kV and 33 kV systems

for solar power plants in coordination with

Kahramaa

. Hold broad authority to plan and execute HV switching in line with approved

technical procedures and HSE requirements

. Possess hands-on experience with

220 kV GIS systems

,

33 kV AIS

, and associated switchgear.
Kahramaa Certification & Interface

Successfully complete and pass the

Kahramaa familiarization and certification process

as a

220 kV Substation Switching Engineer within three (3) months

of assignment. Act as the

technical interface with Kahramaa

for system interruptions, switching coordination, and operational matters. Monitor

power import/export

between the plant and Kahramaa and lead the

monthly billing and invoicing process

.
Failure to obtain Kahramaa authorization may result in candidate rejection as per contract requirements. All certification-related costs shall be borne by the Contractor.Planning & Scheduling

Support the

Maintenance Supervisor (Power)

in planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities in line with asset management policies. Create and manage

work orders in SAP

, including materials, manpower, and logistics coordination.
Technical Leadership & Supervision

Provide

technical guidance and support

to technicians, ensuring required competency levels. Supervise site execution of work orders, ensuring

safe, timely, and efficient completion

. Lead troubleshooting activities and support

Reliability Engineers

in

RCA, FMEA

, and failure investigations.
HSE & Compliance

Lead

start-of-shift meetings, toolbox talks

, and enforce HSE compliance. Ensure completion of

risk assessments, permits to work (PTW), JHAs, LOTO, and electrical authorizations

prior to work commencement.
Contracts & Administration

Prepare

Scopes of Work, technical specifications, basic drawings, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs)

. Administer maintenance contracts, including

Release Orders and Service Entry Sheets in SAP

. Manage day-to-day coordination with contractors and service providers.
Commissioning & Handover

Participate in

commissioning and handover

of new assets. Verify

project dossiers, as-built drawings, maintenance manuals, vendor lists

, and manage warranties.
Work Close-Out

Verify completion of work orders and ensure

SAP updates

for materials consumed and actual man-hours.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree (4 years) in Electrical Engineering

from an internationally recognized university or equivalent.

Minimum 10-12 years of experience

in electrical engineering practices related to

power transmission and distribution systems

. Strong experience in

electrical power system operations and MV/HV maintenance

. Demonstrated experience with: Power Transformers 220 kV GIS and 33 kV AIS HVAC systems Fire water pumps Fire & Gas systems

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent understanding of

electrical safety rules and HV switching procedures

. Proficiency in

SAP PM module

. Ability to work under high operational and safety-critical environments.
