Requirements

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) is looking for an On-Call Events Coordinator to support the Events team, assisting in the coordination and execution of various events hosted by GU-Q.

The On-Call Events Coordinator would be needed for blocks of time between 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with availability to cover shifts in the evenings or weekends as needed, with an anticipated start date in February 2024.

Training will be provided for 2-3 days and working periods will be identified and agreed to in advance, dependent upon need and availability.

Note: As this position is based in Doha, Qatar and offers no relocation assistance, GU-Q is looking for locally based candidates only. This is a temporary, part-time non-sponsored position that requires all applicants to already have the necessary sponsorship to live and work in Qatar.

Key Accountabilities

Support on-site event management, overseeing event setup, registration, guest assistance, and overall event logistics.

Key activities

Assist in the preparation and distribution of event materials, such as invitations, programs, signage, and promotional materials.

Coordinate event registration processes, including managing online registration systems, tracking attendee lists, and responding to inquiries.

Coordinate on-site event management, overseeing event setup, catering, set up, breakdown, registration, guest assistance, and overall event logistics.

Work closely with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of services and products required for events.

Other similar duties, as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Ability to jump in, think quickly, problem solve, be resourceful and project confidence for event customers.

Manual work (walking, pushing carts, carrying boxes/signage stands, etc.)

Experience

Experience in event planning and coordination.

Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
