Responsible for planning, designing, and executing transportation strategies for over-dimensional and heavy-lift cargo. This role involves route surveys, load calculations, compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and coordination with logistics teams to ensure safe and efficient transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Route Planning & Surveying:
Conduct feasibility studies and route surveys for ODC movements.
Identify potential obstacles (bridges, tunnels, road conditions) and plan solutions.
Coordinate with authorities for necessary approvals and clearances.
2. Load & Structural Engineering:
Design and analyze loading plans for heavy and oversized cargo.
Ensure proper weight distribution and structural integrity of cargo and vehicles.
Select appropriate trailers, cranes, and lifting equipment.
3. Safety & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to national and international transport regulations.
Implement safety measures for personnel and cargo.
Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning.
4. Logistics Coordination:
Work with logistics teams to optimize transport efficiency and cost.
Manage technical aspects of cargo loading, unloading, and securing.
Coordinate with government agencies for necessary permits.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare technical reports, drawings, and transportation plans.
Maintain records of engineering calculations and surveys.
Document compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Transportation Engineering (preferred).
Experience in ODC transportation, heavy haulage, or project logistics.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design software.
Experience in route surveys, load calculations, and transport planning.
Familiarity with lifting & securing techniques for heavy cargo.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and meet deadlines.
Preferred Certifications (if any):
Certified Transport Engineer (CTE) or relevant industry certifications.
Safety & Risk Assessment Certification.
