Position Summary

Nurse Intern


To assess patient needs, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of patient care. Provide safe quality ethical nursing care in accordance with the Hospital, international and federal standards and regulationsTo assess patient needs, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of patient care. Summary of Main Duties

Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) Complies with all UHS policies, procedures and fire regulations Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS to attain and maintain international accreditation standards Performs nursing practice in line with the facility, SHA, JCI and FDON policies, procedures and standards Assists the staff/charge nurse with the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing care of each patient, considering the patient's individuality, abilities, culture and right to choose Demonstrates development of prioritizing skills related to patients' individual needs Performs nursing care in response to the patient's needs, treatment plan and nursing care plan, supported by nursing knowledge and current best practice, in accordance with scope of practice and as directed by staff/charge nurse

Responsibilities

Assists physicians as directed with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care Develops acceptable standard of documentation, participating in monthly auditing activities and completing documentation, until initial six months or agreed training period complete and SHA license granted. Under the supervision of the staff/charge nurse, documenting the nursing care of each patient from admission to discharge in accordance to facility medical record and documentation policy Assists and provides documented patient and family health education, based upon the individual nursing care plan of the patient Ensures patient environment is safe for patients and staff by utilizing infection control practices, adhering to international patient safety goals and following facility health and safety policies Collaborates with the Multi-disciplinary team and acts as patient advocate to ensure quality care is delivered

Position Requirements/Qualifications

Required

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing within the UAE holding a BSc Nursing and eligible for SHA license after six-month intern programme.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, holding a BSc Nursing and eligible for SHA license after completing the required intern training to fill a gap as per SHA regulations.

Required

SHA license as per SHA regulations.

Within three months of employment

BLS certificate

Computer literate familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel Must be fluent in written and spoken English, spoken Arabic an advantage


Have knowledge of current evidence-based nursing practice. Demonstrate proven ability to apply theory to practice (assessed during interview) * Basic data management skills
