Job Description

The Nurse Assistant provides basic care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. This role supports the nursing staff in delivering high-quality care by assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist patients with daily personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Take and record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration Help patients with mobility including turning, positioning, and transferring between bed and wheelchair Assist with meal preparation and feeding patients as needed Monitor patient behavior and report any changes in condition to nursing staff Maintain cleanliness of patient rooms and work areas Collect and label specimens such as urine or stool samples for lab testing Provide emotional support to patients and families Ensure patient safety by following infection control and safety protocols Document care provided in patient records accurately and timely

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of a state-approved Nurse Assistant training program Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) [if applicable to the region] Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred Good communication and interpersonal skills Compassionate, patient, and reliable

Work Environment:

Hospital, long-term care facility, clinic, or home healthcare setting May require standing for long periods, lifting patients, and working shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
