NICU/PICU Staff Nurse
Job Summary:
A NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) / PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) Staff Nurse provides highly specialized and compassionate care to critically ill newborns, infants, and children. The role involves managing complex medical equipment, administering precise medications, and supporting families during extremely stressful times.
Key Responsibilities:

• Critical Monitoring: Continuously monitor and interpret vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other parameters using advanced electronic monitors.
• Ventilator & Equipment Management: Skillfully manage and monitor patients on mechanical ventilators, CPAP, incubators, and intravenous infusion pumps.
• Medication Administration: Calculate and administer precise pediatric dosages of medications, including vasoactive drips and total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
• Developmental Care: Provide developmentally supportive care, including minimizing noise and light, and proper positioning for fragile neonates and children.
• Family-Centered Care: Educate, support, and involve parents in the care of their child, providing updates and emotional support.
• Complex Procedures: Assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, central line insertion, and exchange transfusions.
• Assessment: Perform detailed head-to-toe assessments and identify subtle signs of clinical deterioration.
• Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of all aspects of patient care and response to treatment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
• Valid DHA license or eligibility letter.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a NICU or PICU setting.
• Certifications in BLS and PALS are essential. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is mandatory for NICU roles.
• Strong understanding of neonatal and pediatric pathophysiology.
