Thales in the UAE UAE has been a key player in Thales' target markets on a global scale. Present for over 45 years, Thales' vision in the UAE is "Industry, Innovation and Education". Our objective is to bring security, safety and growth, whilst preserving state sovereignty, providing sustainable economic development, and fostering local talent. Thales is well established in the civil market, providing security, digital security and rail signalling solutions in the UAE. Local cooperation Thales Emarat Technologies Part of the Tawazun Economic Program, Thales Emarat Technologies is 100% owned by Thales Group and will focus on centres of excellence for critical systems and a variety of defence and digital aerospace technologies. Thales Emarat Technologies is the vector of our strategy to be integrated in the local Emirati industrial ecosystem in order to create value and economic impact in the short and medium term. It will provide the United Arab Emirates unique and sovereign technology capabilities in line with UAE Vision 2021.

Thales Middle East Design Centre and Digital Experience Thales opened its very own Design Centre in Dubai in 2019, to engage Thales customers throughout the Middle East, leveraging Design Thinking to deliver projects in product/ service design, digital, UX-UI, transformation, venture design, strategy and marketing. In addition, Thales' Digital Experience Centre showcases a significant range of Thales Digital products, solutions and experiences to a wide range of customers across all Thales domains.

Thales Cybersecurity Hub Launched in 2018, Thales' Cybersecurity Hub services the UAE and wider Middle East. The hub uses methodologies to drive awareness and implementation of best practices in cybersecurity and innovation in the region. The Cybersecurity Hub partners with local start-ups and leading academics, to share best practices with customers and businesses in the region. Together, they offer their complementary capabilities to offer customers legal and technical audits and consultancy services as part of a comprehensive set of services.

Thales Underwater Training Centre Since 2017, Thales' Defence Service Centre supports the operations of our customers, to train and maintain local capabilities in terms of operational and tactical use.

Industry focus Defence Thales Defence-related projects consist of a full range of solutions and products with naval systems, surveillance radars and communications of principal importance. This market is pivotal to the region's present and future success as it is predicted that defence expenditure in the Middle East will sustain growth. This significance is clearly reflected within the UAE, with first-class exhibitions and conferences including the IDEX/ NAVDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi and the Dubai Air Show.

Digital Identity & Security From payment to enterprise security and the internet of things, Thales technologies and services authenticate people, transactions and objects, encrypt data and create value for software - enabling businesses and governments to deliver secure digital services for billions of individuals and things. As the world becomes more connected, Thales makes it more secure. Some of our references in the UAE are: Banking payment cards and digital banking solutions to several banks in UAE, e.g. RAKBANK with Dual Interface certified payment card products and ENBD with "Mobile Suite", a mobile banking solution, which speeds up the authentication of digital banking transactions by eliminating the need for customers to wait for an OTP (One Time Password) via SMS.

Security Thales has supplied Dubai and Abu Dhabi with the most advanced security and telecommunication systems on the planet, making the UAE a safer place. Significant projects include: Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 Concourse 2 and Concourse A - In January 2013, Thales delivered an ultra-modern communication and security solution to Concourse A, the new dedicated A380 airside facility in Dubai International Airport. Thales integrated all the systems needed to deliver a fully interlinked and connected 600,000m building with end-to-end security. Thales is the radar supplier of Dubai Airports and Dubai Air Navigation Services Dubai's RTA Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3), powered by Thales state-of-the-art technologies, is a centralised platform that integrates a very large number of CCTV cameras along with different situational awareness means on RTA public transportations including Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, Taxis, Buses and Traffic Systems Control Centres. This unique centre also provides the capability to coordinate combined transportation segments & support OCCs, plan and manage large events, address in real time transportation crises and provide adequate training to all operations staff while being shielded via a robust IT security centre.

Aerospace Thales is a market leader in the fields of avionics and Air Traffic Management systems, outlining the Group's capacity to provide a comprehensive end-to-end response to the challenges of air transport. The impressive and fast development of the national carriers in the UAE (Emirates, Etihad, etc...) have increased aerospace-related sales in the region, boosting demand for the Group's aerospace-related solutions and products. The Group supplies In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems and connectivity solutions to Emirates. Since 2008, Thales is a proud supplier of the entire ATM and navigation systems for Abu Dhabi's International Airport, in addition to its various air traffic radars previously implemented around the country. In 2016, Thales was selected to provide AVANT ultra-high definition 4K in-flight entertainment and global broadband connectivity for Emirates' future Boeing 777X fleet. This contract marked a major milestone for Thales, who remains the exclusive IFE provider for Emirates' upcoming 777X fleet. Supporting Emirates' long-term ambitions, Thales has opened Discovery Dubai, an innovations center with local capabilities for application development, content integration and customer support. This new facility will enable Emirates teams to develop and shape passenger engagement initiatives and programs in the air and on the ground. Since 2017, Thales, has partnered with Emirates Aviation University, the education arm of the Emirates Group, to develop areas of cooperation in the aviation field. Thales is a proud a member of the Aviation X Lab, which aims to enhance the air travel experience, innovate and create the next era of aviation through a sustained programme of funding and collaboration. Launched in 2019, this aviation-specific incubator brings together five global aviation giants under one umbrella based in Area 2071 at the Emirates Towers.

Space Thales has been a strategic partner for the UAE space industry for many years. In 2007, the Al Yah Satellite Communications Company "Yahsat" awarded a contract to the consortium composed of Thales Alenia Space and Astrium, in order to build a dual-satellite communications system. Y1A & Y1B satellites were successfully launched in 2011 and 2012 respectively and the systems have been operational since. Thales has also been working closely with the UAE Armed Forces on advanced satellite technologies.
