The Mill Floor Senior Operator supervises rolling mill operations on the production floor, ensuring efficient workflow, equipment performance, and high-quality steel output. The role involves coordinating with operators, assisting with troubleshooting, and managing production activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mill floor operations and supervise operators and assistants.
Monitor rolling processes, ensuring correct bar movement, speed, and alignment.
Troubleshoot operational issues such as jamming, misalignment, and machine faults.
Ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety compliance are met.
Communicate constantly with pulpit control operators and cooling bed teams.
Maintain daily production reports, logs, and shift records.
Support maintenance teams during shutdowns or breakdowns.
Ensure proper housekeeping and safe working conditions on the mill floor.
Requirements
ITI/Diploma or technical qualification related to steel mill operations.
Minimum 4-6 years of experience
in rolling mill production, with supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of rolling sequences, equipment behavior, and steel quality requirements.
Ability to make quick operational decisions to prevent downtime.
Good leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
Physically fit and capable of working in high-temperature industrial environments.
