Summary:
Metals Technology Instructors will train foreign military students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to produce qualified technicians in their assigned specialties who are able to maintain aircraft systems, subsystems, support equipment, and/or provide logistics support and expertise with little or no supervision.
Training shall provide students specialty Upgrade Training to elevate skills from 3-level to 5-level, 5-level to 7-level, on F-15SA aircraft, GE engines, and associated support services for the following specialty.
Instruct on the following Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Advises on metals machining, welding, designing, and production problems.
2. Designs, manufactures, or modifies special precision tools, gauges, dies, and fixtures to facilitate metal working operations.
3. Performs metals technology shop calculations such as determining cutting speeds and settings, welding processes, and preheat and post heat requirements.
4. Welds, brazes, solders, and heat treats metals.
5. Uses manual and computer numerical controlled (CNC) metal working machines, mills, and lathes to manufacture and repair cams, gears, slots, and keyways for aircraft components and SE.
6. Writes programs for CNC machines using manual and Computer Aided Design-Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD-CAM) methods. Checks completed components and determines serviceability in accordance with drawings and specifications.
7. Disassembles, assembles, and fits component parts using machine screws, bolts, rivets, press fits, and welding techniques.
8. Uses metal working equipment, tools, and supplies to produce surface finishing specifications for components.
9. Extracts broken or damaged hardware. Checks components for wear tolerances using precision measuring devices.
10. Maintains and inspects hand tools and metal working machinery.
11. Performs operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools.
12. Ensures lock out and tag out procedures are accomplished prior to maintenance on all equipment.
13. Uses and disposes of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards.
14. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
Required educational/skills background:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum five (5) years previous experience and a 7-level or equivalent in metals technology.
3. Previous instructor qualification highly desired.
Physical Demands: This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions, including the F-15 cockpit.
Work Environment (ADA): May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/ flight line that may be noisy at times. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing through a hazardous area.
