The Messman is responsible for assisting the Cook in food service and maintaining cleanliness in the galley, mess room, and accommodation areas. This role ensures hygienic conditions are maintained onboard, supporting the health and comfort of the crew. The position is based in
Abu Dhabi
and may involve offshore deployment depending on vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Cook in meal preparation, serving food and beverages to crew and officers.
Clean and maintain the galley, mess room, dining areas, and accommodation spaces.
Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
Change bed linen, clean crew cabins, restrooms, and common areas as assigned.
Dispose of garbage from galley and mess areas in accordance with environmental regulations.
Monitor and replenish dining and cleaning supplies (e.g., soap, tissue, condiments).
Follow shipboard sanitation standards and hygiene procedures at all times.
Support general housekeeping duties as directed by senior crew or officers.
Assist with inventory checking and galley stores loading when required.
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of hygiene, housekeeping, and food service operations.
STCW Basic Safety Training, Security Awareness, and valid Medical Certificate.
Valid Seaman's Book and Passport (as per MLC / STCW requirements).
Minimum
1-2 years of experience
onboard vessels or in a similar hospitality role.
Physically fit and able to work in confined and offshore environments.
Preferred Experience:
Experience on vessels operating in
Abu Dhabi or UAE waters
.
Familiarity with
offshore vessels
, supply boats, tugs, or accommodation barges.
Knowledge of ADNOC or Abu Dhabi Maritime standards is an advantage.
