in managing quantity surveying functions on MEP works in commercial, residential, and/or infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for cost estimation, tendering, variation assessments, subcontractor payments, and ensuring commercial control over MEP packages.
Key Responsibilities:
Measurement & Estimation:
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs for MEP works (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Firefighting).
Prepare cost estimates and BOQs in accordance with project specifications and drawings.
Procurement & Tendering:
Assist in preparing tender documents and support the procurement team with MEP subcontractor evaluations.
Obtain and analyze subcontractor/supplier quotations, and prepare comparison sheets.
Cost Control & Budget Management:
Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
Valuations & Payments:
Prepare monthly interim payment applications for MEP works.
Assess and certify subcontractor interim and final payment applications.
Variations & Claims:
Identify variations and changes in scope; prepare variation orders and cost implications.
Support preparation and negotiation of claims and EOT (Extension of Time) submissions.
Contract Management:
Interpret and manage contracts and ensure compliance with FIDIC or other relevant contract conditions.
Coordinate with project managers and engineers to ensure proper documentation and records.
Coordination & Reporting:
Coordinate with the site team, consultants, and clients for smooth execution of MEP commercial aspects.
Prepare regular reports on cost status, cash flow, and commercial matters for management.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience:
6-8 years of hands-on MEP quantity surveying experience in the UAE.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of local construction practices and market rates.
Familiarity with MEP systems in building and infrastructure projects.
Understanding of contract law and FIDIC conditions.
Skills:
Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD, MS Excel, CCS Candy).
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
