Prepare accurate cost estimates for MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components.
Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are within the allocated budget.
Perform cost analysis, compare with budgeted costs, and provide recommendations to mitigate cost overruns.
Tendering and Procurement:
Assist in the preparation of tender documents for MEP works.
Evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that the pricing is competitive and in line with project specifications.
Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective solutions.
Contract Administration:
Administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
Track progress and ensure that all changes and variations are documented and properly costed.
Prepare and manage payment schedules, including interim and final payments.
Cost Control and Monitoring:
Monitor and track the financial progress of MEP projects.
Report on costs, variations, and financial forecasts to the project management team.
Manage the change order process, ensuring that any additional work is properly priced and approved.
Site Visits and Measurement:
Conduct site visits to measure work completed and ensure accuracy of quantities and progress.
Verify work completed on-site and reconcile it with contractors' claims for payment.
Ensure that the quality and specifications of the work meet the contractual requirements.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain and update accurate records of all financial transactions related to MEP works.
Prepare cost reports, including forecasts, to keep stakeholders informed of project financial status.
Assist with the preparation of final accounts and settlement of any disputes or claims related to MEP works.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks related to costs and contractual issues, and proactively suggest mitigation strategies.
Manage any disputes related to MEP contracts, providing guidance on resolution.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure smooth execution of MEP systems.
Provide guidance and advice on cost-effective MEP solutions.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all MEP installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
Review design and construction drawings to ensure proper pricing of MEP works.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS, ICE) preferred.
Experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems and projects.
Strong understanding of MEP drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Experience:
Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in MEP quantity surveying or related roles.
Experience in managing MEP contracts, cost control, and procurement in the construction industry.
