Job Description
MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) Engineer designs, installs, and maintains essential building systems (HVAC, power, water) in construction projects, ensuring functionality, safety, efficiency, and code compliance by collaborating with architects and contractors, performing calculations, creating designs, and overseeing site work. They manage the integration of these systems, focusing on energy efficiency and seamless operation within the overall building design.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Planning:
Develop detailed plans for HVAC, electrical power, lighting, plumbing, fire alarms, and other systems.Coordination:
Work with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to integrate MEP systems into the building structure.Calculations:
Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system sizing.Compliance:
Ensure all designs meet building codes, safety standards, and energy efficiency regulations.Procurement:
Select appropriate equipment, materials, and technologies.Site Supervision:
Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of systems on-site.Problem-Solving:
Address on-site issues, troubleshoot problems, and manage changes.Documentation:
Prepare manuals, submittals, and project documentation.Core Skills:
Proficiency in MEP design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit). Strong understanding of building codes and standards. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
