Job Description

We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented MEP Engineer to work in a project management and design consultancy capacity, representing the client in overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across large-scale building projects in Dubai. The candidate will be responsible for managing design reviews, coordinating between consultants and contractors, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations, and supporting the delivery of MEP systems in line with project objectives and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Review and validate design submissions from consultants for all MEP systems including HVAC, water supply, drainage, firefighting, LPG, electrical distribution, lighting, ELV systems, and fire alarm systems. Ensure compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, BS, DEWA, DM, Trakhees, DCD, and other applicable codes and standards. Manage all stages of design - concept, schematic, detailed design, and IFC - ensuring technical adequacy and alignment with the project's vision, budget, and operational strategy. Evaluate mechanical and electrical engineering calculations including heat load, ESP, ventilation, pump head, fault level analysis, voltage drop, short circuit current, and lighting lux levels. Review equipment sizing and selection for key MEP components (chillers, pumps, AHUs, MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, lighting control, etc.). Ensure effective interdisciplinary coordination among architectural, structural, and MEP teams to prevent clashes and optimize system layouts. Monitor and follow up on consultants' and contractors' deliverables and submittals to ensure timely submission and technical compliance. Review and comment on shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, ITPs, and technical datasheets for all MEP systems. Participate in project, coordination, and site meetings, addressing MEP-related technical concerns and ensuring alignment with project milestones. Coordinate and support all authority submissions and approvals, ensuring completeness and timely responses to comments. Assess contractor proposals for major equipment and systems to ensure technical compliance, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Contribute to value engineering exercises to optimize MEP design and reduce lifecycle costs without compromising performance. Review and ensure integration of sustainable design practices, aligning with LEED, Estidama, or other green building requirements. Support post-handover MEP operations including facility management coordination, O&M manual review, and asset handover.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master's degree is a plus). 8+ years of experience in MEP design and project Proven experience in large-scale commercial, mixed-use, or residential developments (malls, retail centers, communities). Solid understanding of UAE codes and authority approval processes (DM, DEWA, DCD, Trakhees, etc.). Technical expertise in design and calculation software: HAP, Elite, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, etc. Familiarity with MEP coordination tools and BIM workflows. Membership in professional bodies (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IET, IEEE) is preferred. Green building certifications such as LEED AP, Estidama PQP, or equivalent are advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
