The role involves preparing technical designs, coordinating with project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and maintaining quality throughout all project phases. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, project coordination skills, and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering
Prepare detailed MEP designs, layouts, calculations, and technical drawings.
Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and system modeling for HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing systems.
Ensure all designs meet local authority regulations, applicable codes, and project specifications.
Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings, and material selections.
2. Project Coordination & Execution
Coordinate closely with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Participate in coordination meetings and resolve design clashes and on-site technical issues.
Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems.
Track project progress, schedules, and workmanship quality.
3. Compliance & Quality Control
Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for MEP works.
Ensure compliance with safety requirements and industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, IPC, etc.).
Carry out site inspections, system testing, and performance evaluations.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare technical reports, BOQs, specifications, and related project documents.
Maintain updated records of design revisions, approvals, and project communications.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Professional certifications such as LEED, PMP, or PE are an advantage.
2-10+ years of experience
in MEP design, consultancy, or construction, depending on the role level.
